The Story of Rock Medical
Rock Medical was founded to solve a challenge most anesthesia practices understand: the need for a billing partner they can trust.
As president of an anesthesia provider group, Dr. George experienced firsthand the difficulty of gaining clarity and confidence in revenue cycle performance. Having previously built Ultimate Board Prep into an industry leader that has helped more than 7,000 anesthesiologists become board certified, he recognized another opportunity to create a better solution.
Dr. George partnered with healthcare executive Darren Tewes to study the anesthesia billing industry and identify where traditional approaches were falling short. Their research confirmed the need for a more transparent, accountable, and practice-focused revenue cycle partner.
They were joined by Julie McDaniel, who brings more than 24 years of anesthesia revenue cycle experience—from hands-on coding to operational leadership. Together, they created Rock Medical to deliver the expertise, transparency, personal accountability, and results anesthesia practices deserve.

Darren Tewes
Chief Executive Officer
Darren is the co-founder of Rock Medical and serves as the Chief Executive Officer. He holds a master’s degree in business administration. A gifted leader with a passion for client service and patient care, Darren has excelled in the healthcare industry by driving business excellence with the end goal of serving people. With over 20 years of senior healthcare management, Darren brings experience in all facets of business leadership. Darren currently resides in Wichita, Kansas with his wife Bobbi. While not working you can find him on a pickleball court or spending time with his family.
Dr. Greg George
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. George is a board-certified anesthesiologist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Rock Medical, where he serves as Chief Medical Officer. He practiced with Mid-Continent Anesthesiology, Chartered for more than 20 years and served as President from 2017 until his retirement from the practice of anesthesia in March 2026. Under his leadership, the group experienced more than 300% growth during his first six years as President.
In 2008, Dr. George founded Ultimate Board Prep, Inc., which has grown to become an industry leader in preparation for the ABA Applied Exam. Building on his experience in clinical anesthesia and practice leadership, he co-founded Rock Medical to provide anesthesia billing solutions focused on excellence, transparency, and service. Dr. George resides in Wichita, Kansas, with his wife, Jill, and their six children.
Julie McDaniel
VP of Operations
Julie serves as the Vice President of Operations for Rock Medical. She holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration and has over 24 years of experience working at all levels of anesthesia revenue cycle management. Julie began her career in the anesthesia billing space at an entry level position, eventually working her way up to managing teams responsible for $60M in annual collections from more than 300 providers. In addition to her master’s degree, she has earned her CPC and CANPC certification. Outside of work she has held multiple positions in her local AAPC chapter, including serving as President. Julie currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband Phil and their two children.
